ReGen Villages Oosterwold

Except

2018

ReGen Villages is a project developed by Except and the ReGen team to create a masterplan for a self-sustaining housing neighbourhood in the Netherlands. I participated in this project for Except Integrated Sustainability in 2017-2018.

In a nutshell, ReGen villages was envisioned thinking globally but acting locally, for an evergrowing demand for a more sustainable kind of living, ReGen would go beyond that and be a self-sustainable village, it would have the resources to generate its own electricity, heating, water and food supply. An idea so relevant not only for the future generations but for the times we are living now, complex and one of its kind, where organic food would be produced in loco, and waste material recycled with the use of high-end technology, are some examples. The name ReGen comes from regenerative, meaning also that the village regenerates that which it consumes from the planet.

Supervised by a team of experts in different fields I participated in the design of the project, producing research, sketches, illustrations, images and graphic designs.
