Orwell Park House

Cathal O’Neill Architects

2015

While working for Cathal O’Neill Architects in Dublin among many other projects, I worked in this house extension project at Orwell Park road in Dublin, the project involved weekly technical visits to the site accompanied by architect Cathal O’Neill, the preparation of reports and pictures, as well as planning permission applications and all technical drawings.

The project was to convert the existing garage of a period house built in the 1880’s into a two-storey home for a family member. The design was meticulously detailed and studied, reinforcement for the walls was necessary and solutions were found together with the engineer and contractor of the project.

The participation of the architecture practice in this project was paramount to its success and I am glad I was part of it. The simplest projects are sometimes the ones that teach the most.
