The tendency of humanity is to focus on large cities, which makes these human nuclei often a source of violence and urban neurosis. Given this framework, leisure is necessary but not sufficient. Tourism, allowing the individual to distance himself from his environment and his daily life, has become an increasingly necessity for human wellbeing. This was in line with the favourable economic situation in Brazil and the desires of initiatives in the region that wanted the region to grow. Despite not having the beaches of Rio de Janeiro or the adventures of the Pantanal, this region is part of a country blessed by nature where the creativity of its people can turn everything into a reason for tourism. It is along this path that the region northwest of the state of Sao Paulo shows that it is possible to create a strong tourism centre, to attract people not only from Brazil but also from elsewhere in the world.

This work dealt with issues relating to the development of tourism in the region of Sao Jose do Rio Preto, a city in Brazil, the goal would be achieved with the implementation of an outreach program of the potentialities of this region, studied in this project; the main purpose was to have the “Regional Tourism Centre” as a place to function as a catalyst for the tourism in the region, with all the necessary infrastructure to meet and greet the touristic public of the region of Sao Jose do Rio Preto, in which, among other things, it would be offered a sample of what the region has to offer, attracting investors, making it a touristic region indeed, and valued by its residents.

The project aimed to bring people closer to tourism and to support those who visit the city, thus promoting regional tourism and helping the region's economy. Identified the touristic potentialities of the region and the city of Sao Jose do Rio Preto, it was possible to work on programs and actions that would enable the sustainable development of these potentialities and ensure that the growth of the sector was made in an orderly and humanized way. The Regional Tourism Centre is based on the provision of services to society, with its main focus on the prioritization of Culture, the enhancement of the Historical Heritage of the region and the relationship between residents and the city.
